The concert will be recorded by one of our dance dads, Jason Chan, and can be pre-ordered online now:
Twirl, Tumble & Tap dancers:
Twirl, Tumble & Tap dancers arrive at 1.30pm and go straight to the audience with their parents. They will sit with you in the audience and will be asked to come up onto the stage straight from the audience for both of their dances (one in the first half and one in the second half) and then will return straight to the audience. They will be asked to join the finale at the end of the concert. After the finale, Twirl, Tumble & Tap dancers will meet parents at the front of the stage to be taken home. They will not go backstage at any time.
When to arrive:
Students (with the exception of Twirl, Tumble & Tap dancers) arrive between 11 - 11.30 am in their street clothes with their hair and makeup done, and their costume(s) in their labelled suit bag. They will then have an induction to the theatre and rehearse the finale on stage. Please see concert info pack for a detailed itinerary.
Where to arrive:
Students are to be dropped off at the top of the stairs at the side of the stage, where they will have their name marked off. This is where you will collect your dancer at the end of the performance. No child will be allowed to leave during the performance.
Costume hire for all students (with the exception of performance troupe students) has been included in your fees so there is nothing extra to pay. Costumes will be given to your dancer in a labelled suit bag during their last lesson before the concert. You will bring this suit bag to and from the concert and return it at your next lesson. Costumes are not to be washed. Once they are returned, they will be taken to be professionally washed and dry cleaned by SDGA.
Girls require a slick ballet bun for their hair (all dances). Please follow the tutorial and ask before the concert day if you have any questions.
Without a little makeup, stage lights make dancers look pale and washed-out. Most little ballerinas love putting on makeup, however, if applying makeup is causing any stress please understand that their HAPPINESS is the most important thing and shines brighter than makeup on stage.
Foundation, blush, accentuated eyebrows and lipstick are important and should not cause any stress to you or your dancer to apply. Eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara are completely optional. If your dancer is happy to wear eyeshadow, eyeliner and/or mascara please apply as per the video. If not, these can be left until they are older. Our priority is to provide a POSITIVE experience with HAPPY dancers (and parents!).
Please also note: no earrings, jewellery, temporary tattoos or nail polish are to be worn (this includes no polish on toenails as our Acro dances will perform in bare feet).
Boys Hair and Makeup:
Boys hair should be neatly brushed and off their face. You may use hairspray or gel to keep it in place. Boys are not required to wear makeup however, if they are happy to apply foundation, this will help them not to be washed out with the stage lights. Blush, accentuated eyebrows and lip balm are optional. As with all our students, our priority is to provide a positive performance experience with happy dancers and parents.
