For over 12 years, we’ve proudly offered free school walking pickups to make busy afternoons a little easier for our SDGA families. Each week, more than 90 dancers meet our teachers at their school and walk together with their friends to the studio, ready for their afternoon dance classes.

It’s a fun and easy way for children to get to dance, while saving parents the after-school rush of school pickup and getting everyone to the studio on time!

Where do we meet?

See the photos above for each meeting location. Our teachers are easy to spot in their hot pink hi-vis vests over their SDGA t-shirts.

​

Please make sure your child knows where to meet their SDGA teachers at the end of the school day. You’re also welcome to let their classroom teacher know they’ll be joining the SDGA walking pickup, particularly if they might need a little extra help finding the meeting spot.

Once everyone is marked off the list, our teachers walk the group together to the studio, where dancers have time to enjoy their afternoon tea and change into their dance uniform ready for class.

What should my child pack?
- a nut-free afternoon tea

- water bottle

- dance uniform (bare feet for Acro Dance classes and ballet socks/tights and ballet shoes for Ballet, Jazz & Lyrical classes)

What do I do if my child is away?
If your child is away from school, being picked up by someone else or not joining the walking pickup for any reason, please text Regina on 0413 221 277 or email info@sdga.com.au by 2pm to let us know they'll be away.

As our walking pickup service is independent of the school, you’ll need to let us know directly - notifying the school does not notify our SDGA teachers.

​

This is really important as it ensures our walking pickup runs smoothly, so our teachers know not to wait for your child at the pickup spot.

How do I enrol my child for the school pickup?

It’s easy! Simply tick the school walking pickup box when you submit your enrolment form.

If your child is already enrolled and you’d like to add walking pickup, just email us at info@sdga.com.au and we can add them to the pickup list

Your First Walking Pickup

The first time your child joins our walking pickup, we’ll send you a confirmation text once they’ve arrived safely at the meeting spot, just for that extra peace of mind. This is also the number you’ll text if your child is ever away or doesn't need to be collected from school, so please save my number (Regina - 0413 221 277) to your phone.

New Kindy parents

If your child is starting Kindy and will be finishing early for the first few weeks, please let us know by emailing info@sdga.com.au . We're happy to meet them early at the pickup spot above (this is where the Kindy students are brought out by their teachers for the first few weeks of school). For Roseville Public School, they will have time to eat their afternoon tea, and relax or play on the equipment (supervised by our teachers) while we wait for the older students to finish. We then all walk together to the studio for classes.
